Internet in Pécs: frequently asked questions

Good chance you will find the answer on this page, or by contacting the Internet in Hungary customer service.

Can I get fiber internet in Pécs?

At many addresses, yes. Availability differs per street, from the city centre to the neighbourhoods on the slopes of the Mecsek hills. Enter your address in the availability check to see whether fiber is available and which speeds you can choose. If not, 5G home internet is usually possible.

I live in an older building in the city centre. What are my options?

Yes. Some older buildings in the historic centre of Pécs are not connected to fiber yet; then 5G is a good alternative. Thick walls can weaken WiFi, so place your router centrally and high. In larger homes an extra access point helps to get good coverage in every room.

Can international students get internet in Pécs?

Yes. Many international students at the University of Pécs arrange their own internet. Choose a plan without commitment for a semester, or a 1-year or 2-year plan for a full degree. See all plans and prices.

Do I need a Hungarian address card or ID?

No. Internet in Pécs is arranged without a Hungarian ID card, address card or Hungarian phone number. You order online in your own language.

How quickly can I get connected in Pécs?

Most customers in Pécs are online within 2–3 working days. We contact you within 1–2 business days to schedule the installation; with 5G, your pre-configured router is sent to your address. Read more about the installation process.

My house is in the hills around Pécs. Can I get fast internet?

It depends on the street. In some parts of the hills fiber is available, in others 5G is the better option. The availability check shows what is possible at your exact address, so you never have to guess.
