Frequently asked questions about
Internet in Hungary vs Starlink
What is the difference between Internet in Hungary and Starlink?
Internet in Hungary vs Starlink is a choice between a connection on the ground and one from space. We connect you with fiber, or with 5G home internet where fiber is not available, always with the router included. Starlink delivers satellite internet via a dish that you buy and install yourself.
How much does Starlink cost in Hungary?
On the Hungarian Starlink website, residential plans start at HUF 10,999 per month (about €28) for 100 Mbps, HUF 14,999 (about €38) for 200 Mbps and HUF 22,999 (about €58) for the Max plan, plus a hardware kit. With Internet in Hungary, fiber starts at €22 per month and FastWave 5G costs €59, router included. See all plans and prices.
Is Starlink fast enough for working from home?
Starlink offers around 100 Mbps on the entry plan and up to 400+ Mbps on the Max plan. Speed is rarely the issue; latency and stability are. For daily video calls and VPN, a fixed fiber line is more stable than satellite.
How does installation work?
With Internet in Hungary you are usually connected within 2–3 working days: a technician installs fiber, or your pre-configured 5G router arrives and you plug it in. Read more on our installation page. With Starlink you mount the dish yourself, in a spot with a clear view of the sky.
Do I need a Hungarian contract or address card?
No. With Internet in Hungary you order online without a passport scan or Hungarian paperwork, and we handle the rest in your language. Starlink is also ordered online.
Does weather affect Starlink?
Heavy rain, snow and obstacles such as trees or buildings can interrupt a satellite connection, because the dish needs a clear view of the sky. A fiber connection is not affected by the weather.
Can I cancel early?
With Internet in Hungary you choose a 2-year plan with free installation, a 1-year plan, or a fiber plan without commitment that you can cancel after the first month. Starlink works with a monthly subscription; check their terms for the hardware kit.
When is Starlink the better choice?
For truly remote properties where neither fiber nor 5G reaches, satellite internet can be the only good option, and Starlink does that well. Wherever fiber or 5G is available, you are usually cheaper or more stable off with us. Read more about internet in rural Hungary.
What speeds are available?
Internet in Hungary offers fiber from 300 Mbps up to 8 Gbps, and FastWave 5G up to 400 Mbps. Starlink offers about 100 Mbps, 200 Mbps or 400+ Mbps depending on the plan.
How do I check availability at my address?

Why internationals choose Internet in Hungary
over Starlink
Looking for internet in Hungary for your home, a holiday home or a house in the countryside? Then you will probably compare Internet in Hungary vs Starlink. Both work across the country, but in a very different way: we connect you with fiber or 5G, Starlink with a satellite dish.
On price, the difference starts with hardware. With Internet in Hungary the router is included. With Starlink you buy the dish kit yourself, on top of the monthly subscription. Fiber starts at €22 per month; Starlink’s residential plans start at about €28 per month.
Stability is the second difference. A fiber line has low latency and delivers the same speed day and night, which makes it ideal for video calls, VPN and gaming. Satellite internet has higher latency and depends on a clear view of the sky and the weather. Where fiber is not available, our 5G home internet is a fast alternative without any installation.
That does not mean Starlink is a bad choice. For truly remote properties where neither fiber nor 5G reaches, Starlink can be the best option. Comparing Internet in Hungary vs Starlink is therefore mainly a question of where you live.
What you get with us on top: personal support in English, Dutch, German or French, invoices in euros and no Hungarian paperwork. See our plans and prices, read about internet in rural Hungary, or compare us with Telekom Hungary and One Hungary.
